General Dentistry treatments we offer are:

Treatment Focus:

Bonding

Bonding is an alternative to veneers that can be used to restore teeth that are discolored, chipped, cracked, or misarranged. The dentist prepares the tooth for bonding by lightly etching the surface, and coating the tooth with a bonding liquid. Once the liquid has set, then the dentist applies a plastic resin and sculpts it into the desired shape. When the resin has set, it is trimmed and polished to a natural appearance. Bonding can significantly improve the appearance of a tooth and can usually be done in a single office visit. Because the plastic is not as strong as tooth enamel, it can be chipped, or broken, and is more likely to pick up stains than natural teeth. Bonding usually lasts for three to five years before needing repair. more

Root Canal Treatment

A root canal is usually a simple procedure with little or no discomfort involving one to three visits to our practice. Most patients report that having root canal treatment today is as unremarkable as getting a filling. The best news is that it can normally save your tooth and your smile! At the Avenue Dental Centre we use a root canal procedure to save the damaged or dead pulp in the root canal of the tooth by cleaning out the diseased pulp and reshaping the canal. The soft tissue around the tooth contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Years ago, teeth with diseased or injured pulps were removed. Today, root canal treatment has given us a safe way of saving your teeth.

Porcelain Veneers

These are custom-made porcelain facings providing new front surface for your tooth.
Veneers may be used for a number of reasons:
  • to close gaps
  • to align crowded or twisted teeth
  • to lighten discoloured teeth
They are very strong and natural looking and can be used to make lasting changes to enhance your smile.

Crowns/Bridges

Crowns and Bridges have proven successful in enhancing the aesthetic nature of your teeth and smile as well as tooth structure.

Crowns may be utilised to improve the appearance of a natural tooth or to strengthen and restore a warn-down, cracked or broken tooth.

Crowns are fitted over your natural tooth. Conventional Crowns are made from porcelain and in appearance resemble a natural tooth. A full Crown is suggested after a Root Canal or if a considerable amount of tooth structure is lost when a tooth is cracked or broken. Crowns are necessary when there is no longer sufficient tooth structure left to insert a filling.

Bridges may be utilised after a tooth is lost. Bridges are an aesthetically pleasing solution that looks natural and discrete.

Bridges are a type of restoration that cover the place, where one or more teeth are lost from the dental arch. In these instances the lost teeth are replaced with Bridge work. Other teeth around this area are then created as Crowns to support the new tooth/teeth.

Dentures

Dentures can replace your missing teeth and your smile. This may be required in the event that you have lost your natural teeth from gum disease, tooth decay or injury.
A denture is an appliance which is worn to replace lost or missing teeth. Patients suitable for complete dentures have lost most or all of their teeth. A partial denture is suitable for those who have some natural teeth remaining. A denture improves chewing ability and speech and provides support for facial muscles. It will greatly enhance the facial appearance and smile.

Laser Dentistry

Laser Dentistry makes no noise at all and does not come into contact with the patient’s teeth. The procedure time is significantly reduced using the technique of Laser and it can also provide numerous recovery benefits to patients. Some of these benefits include;

  • Less discomfort whilst and after the treatment is performed
  • Quicker recovery
  • Less bleeding
  • Reduced swelling
  • No need for anaesthetic or gas.
Patients are also able to eat and drink immediately after the procedure is carried out. This is unlike normal dentistry work which requires a waiting period of at least half an hour to an hour before anything can be consumed.
